The Center of the Bible

Friday, February 16th, 2007

Today I wanted to share with you Psalm 118. The reason I chose to share this scripture with you is because I received an email from Penny with a wonderful message with some beautiful pictures of God’s creation called the Center of the Bible which I put into a powerpoint presentation and to which Penny added music as well.

I pray it is a blessing to you and that you have a wonderful week filled with God’s blessings and have confidence that God is in the center of it all.

Confessions of an Amateur Believer by Patty Kirk

Wednesday, February 14th, 2007

I always love reading or hearing about others personal faith stories and so when I came across Confessions of an Amateur Believer by Patty Kirk it was a book I had to read. It is a personal testimony of Patty Kirk going from her own childlike faith growing up as a Catholic to becoming an atheist as she encountered family trials in her teenage years and her struggle to return to a contentment and rest in faith many years later as an adult. Patty Kirk’s personal faith story was a great inspirational read as faith stories always are but what I liked most about her book was her gritty writing style that really challenges us to take a good hard look at where we are in our own faith walk.

You can read a Chapter Excert and or order the book at www.thomasnelson.com.

The Ultimate Covenant of Love

Thursday, February 1st, 2007

February 1st is already here and Valentines day is just around the corner with Love in the air more this month then any other so I wanted to share with you “God’s Ultimate Covenant of Love” the theme for this month at my website Christian Women’s Resources.

The Ultimate Covenant of Love

There is no God like you in heaven above or on earth below.

You who keep your covenant of love with your servants who

continue wholeheartedly in your way.” (1 Kings 8:23 NIV)

Are you searching for love in all the wrong places? Do you desire to find that special someone who will love you for the rest of your lives? We all desire to find this special someone to love and be loved by. If you have already been blessed to have found that special someone, you have most likely made one of the biggest decisions of your lives and made a covenant of love with each other through marriage.

Because our natural tendency is to be selfish though, sooner or later we disappoint and fail each other. This covenant of love is meant to be ‘til death do us part but too often it is easily broken. We find our marriage is not the fairy tale we envisioned it would be and give ourselves an out through divorce because of failed expectations.

Therefore, it is important that we make an even greater decision in our lives to enter into the ultimate covenant of love with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We should enter into this covenant of love, not only for our salvation, but for the for the very sake of our loved ones too. When we do, we can truly give and receive love as only God can do through us.

We then can stop putting such high expectations on our loved ones and start putting those expectations on God instead. I’m not saying we can’t have any expectations or that we shouldn’t express how we desire to be loved. What I am saying is, when our loved ones fail us and don’t live up to our expectations, we have our heavenly Father to look to who will always meet and even exceed our expectations.

It is His covenant of love that we can never put too high of expectations on, because great is the love the Father has to lavish on us. It is His covenant of love that will never fail us, leave us nor forsake us. He is in this marriage for the long haul. It is His covenant of love that endures forever, even with our flaws and regardless of the challenges we face in the marriage. His covenant of love is not easily broken even if we choose to separate ourselves from the marriage. His love is stronger then death and eventually draws us right back into His loving arms.

How priceless is His unfailing love in our lives! Let us look to the ultimate covenant of His love to meet and exceed our need to be loved and to love. Only then can we stop putting such high expectations on our loved ones. Only then will we be able to love them with the love of God and extend grace to them because of the grace we ourselves have received.

Heavenly Father, there truly is no God like you in heaven above or on earth below. How priceless is your unfailing love in our lives. I praise you and thank you for your covenant of love you have with those who continue wholeheartedly in your way. Help us to look to your ultimate covenant of love to meet and exceed our expectations and so your love may flow through us to our loved ones. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Take Away Question to ponder – Who are you putting your expectations on? If it is the people closest to you, begin to put your expectations on God instead to meet your needs and see how the love of God begins to flow through you to your loved ones.
