3:16 The Numbers of Hope by Max Lucado

Max Lucado has always been a favorite author of mine so when I heard about his new book coming out at a time when our nation needs to be reminded of hope, I had to get the book. We all know the familiar scripture John 3:16 but sometimes when things are too familiar we lose the meaning or the impact of the scripture isn’t as great any more.

Max Lucado does a great job taking this familiar scripture and putting the impact back into it so our hearts are moved again by it as it should be. The book also includes a 40 day devotional in the back of the book that is wonderful.

The Grand Weaver by Ravi Zacharias

Personal review of: The Grand Weaver, How God Shapes Us Through the Events of Our Lives by Ravi Zacharias.

This is a wonderful book. It is a book that is by no means a quick read but that is a good thing as it has you pondering things deeply about how the events of your own life have shaped you. I’ve always believed everything we go through is for a reason but he really helps you explore how they shape our lives. A great read I would recommend to anyone.

Overview of THE GRAND WEAVER
(Zondervan; Hardcover; July 2007):

Why has God made it so difficult to sense his presence and believe in his existence? Many skeptics and believers find themselves asking this question when it comes to understanding God’s participation in our lives. International apologist Ravi Zacharias examines how we continually interrupt the plan God has created for us in his new book, THE GRAND WEAVER.

In his book, Zacharias explains that we are all a part of God’s design; from our disappointments to our triumphs, every part of our lives is a small piece of a greater design. THE GRAND WEAVER goes beyond the theoretical nature of the question of God’s influence in our lives like in Zacharias’s previous books by showing the appointments God makes with each of us, and how we can recognize and appreciate them. By showing us the snagged stitches and the “flaws” that show up at all the “wrong times.” Zacharias contends that this is where we will find the distinctive shape and imprint of the Master Weaver.

Zacharias mixes inspiring stories and thought provoking questions to help people begin to see how the multiple threads of our lives become a large tapestry of our world. Understanding how our joys, our tragedies and daily lives create this pattern of divine providence and meaning behind God’s grand design.

“Only when you see this pattern for yourself can you see the breadth of God’s care for the cosmic scene and his personal care for your life,” explains Zacharias. “To allow God to be God we must follow him for who he is and what he intends, and not for what we want or what we prefer.”
